Revolutionary War Veteran, Noah Strickland, received a new headstone in 1972 as his was damaged. He is buried in Beach Road Cemetery which is also known as Poole Cemetery and/or Andrus Cemetery.

“Pendleton Plans New Mark For Grave Of Revolutionary War Vet

A new marker will be placed on the grave of Pvt. Noah Strickland, a Revolutionary War veteran, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pools Cemetery, Beach Ridge Road, Pendleton.

The new marker will replace a broken one and was secured with the aid of the Niagara County Veterans Service Agencies, according to Benjamin Sabczyk, town historian.

Mr. Sobczyk said research has revealed that the soldier died in 1829 and had served with a company from Massachusetts until his discharge on Aug. 12, 1777. He is the only known soldier buried in the county cemetery, which has been heavily vandalized in the past few years.

Speaking at the dedication ceremony will be Robert Dell, a teacher at Starpoint Central School, and I. Richard Reed, Niagara County historian.

Also participating will be Wheatfield Post 1451 and Portage Post 1465 of the American Legion; two chatpers [sic] of the Daughters of the American Revolution; government officials; local Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops, and the Starpoint Central School band.”¹
